JUNIORS CLUB
Our Junior Club has grown steadily over the last few years and we anticipate this trend to continue due to the significant growth of numbers participating in the Auskick Clinics and the growing popularity of our game generally.
CLUB LOCATION
ABOUT THE CLUB
Morningside Panthers is an Australian Rules Football Club based at Jack Esplen Oval in the suburb of Hawthorne in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The club consists of both Junior and Senior football sections.
Morningside AFC has operated successfully as a football club in Brisbane for over 50 years and is one of the most widely recognised Queensland based AFL clubs within Australia.
At the beginning of the 2000 season the members of both clubs’ voted unanimously to join and form one united club. This decision was made to strengthen the club socially, financially and to improve the junior player development programmes and created a player path to the elite AFLQ State League competition.
Playing Arena The Jack Esplen oval in Riding Rd, Morningside has a good quality playing surface with field dimensions appropriate for senior AFL football. Associated structures such as goal posts, timekeepers box and two separated Coaches boxes have been approved by AFLQ.
The club has appropriate change room facilities for home and visiting teams, a separate medical room, weights room, and separate umpires change rooms. These areas are currently being looked by the club for further upgrade (depending on finances) and extension plans have been drawn up for the future. The field has night lighting for training purposes and in the past, has been used for Under 18 and Under 16 BJFL night games. Adjacent to the field is a council ‘free area’ space, which provides excellent availability for team warm up areas prior to game start.
The ground and associated football facilities are subject to regular AFL State League inspections. Amenities The Jack Esplen Oval offers good viewing for spectators with ample seating around the oval and in front of the clubrooms. The club offers restaurant and bar facilities, as well as, on game days operating a kiosk facility. In 2001, the club upgraded the car park providing excellent parking facilities for club members and visitors. First Aid The Club has excellent first Aid Facilities and a well experienced training staff.
